The games and exercises conducted have allowed the children to learn about the historical and artistic heritage located in the town, specially the Romanesque church.
Bringing heritage closer to the younger generation in an enjoyable and entertaining way and at the same time raising awareness of the need for its proper care and maintenance are two of the workshop´s objectives. The workshop was held by the technicians of the Atlantic Romanesque Intervention Plan in Sejas de Sanabria. A group of 75 children participated in the camp organized by the "San Lorenzo" Family Association, coordinated and led for years by the priest Francisco García Díez.
Through explanations and games, technicians showed the children the treasures that can be found in Sejas, among which stands the parish church, dedicated to St. Marina. This church has been recently rehabilitated under the Atlantic Romanesque Plan.
In the simplest way, the monitors explained the work completed to improve lighting, energy efficiency and sustainability. Thus, they have learned that heritage is everyone´s legacy and needs to be preserved. In many cases this is a simple gesture, yet a serious commitment.
The activity fulfills one of the many compromises of the Atlantic Romanesque Plan, more specifically the one that involves the dissemination of the actions carried out within the plan and the participation of different social sectors in the preservation and care of the assets.
