The Atlantic Romanesque Plan, supported by the Regional Government of Castilla and León and Iberdrola Foundation Spain, in collaboration with Santa Maria la Real Foundation and the dioceses, is presenting this week, within its cultural activities, educational workshops for educational centres in the area and a free concert for all types of audience.
On Friday, 13 December, the Atlantic Romanesque is presenting two events in Ciudad Rodrigo cathedral in order to highlight the importance of the works carried out in the building. In the morning, the workshops are being held in the cathedral, in the Information Point installed at the Puerta del Perdón Portal, by a specialist who is going to work with the educational centres explaining them the works in a funny and dynamic way, telling them about the history of the building and the importance of preserving and managing it correctly, giving the Atlantic Romanesque example.
Alterum Cor Concert
At 7.30 pm the cathedral will become the stage for Alterum Corum choir concert, conducted by Valentín Benavides and presenting both religious and popular songs. The choir was founded in 2005 and it is composed of 20 professional singers, who perform their concerts in a different style, accessible to a wider audience.
“These activities revitalise the spaces where works have been carried out and demonstrate that the Atlantic Romanesque is going beyond the simple works in the buildings”, say the people responsible for the Plan, reminding that works have been carried out in more than twenty Romanesque temples in the Spanish provinces of Zamora and Salamanca and the Portuguese regions of Oporto, Vila Real and Bragança, since the Plan was created in 2010.
