Her Majesty, Queen Sofia, was chosen today to inaugurate the AR&PA International Biennial Cultural Heritage Management and Restoration Convention held until 27 May in Valladolid, organized by the Autonomous Government of Castile and Leon.
During the visit to the stands, she was able to see, first-hand, the work that the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Autonomous Government of Castile and Leon, the Iberdrola Foundation and the Ministry of Culture of Portugal are developing inside the Atlantic Romanesque Intervention Plan, in collaboration with various Dioceses and the Santa María la Real Foundation.
Inauguration
Accompanied by the President of the Autonomous Government of Castile and Leon, Juan Vicente Herrera, and the Minister of Culture, Alicia Garcia, Queen Sofia visited all the stands of the various institutions and companies participating in the Eighth Biennial Heritage Management and Restoration Convention. During her visit to the Santa María la Real Foundation´s stand she was received by institution's general director Juan Carlos Prieto.
Through the words of the Minister of Culture and Juan Carlos Prieto, Her Majesty was able to experience first-hand the work that takes place in the heritage monuments of the regions bordering Portugal and Castile and Leon, thanks to the Atlantic Romanesque Plan.
Specifically, Queen Sofia showed particular interest in the church of San Pedro de la Nave in Zamora, which currently is subject to several previous studies which must take place before drafting the restoration project within the Atlantic Romanesque Plan.
