Recently, after a work meeting celebrated in Anglet, France, the technicians of SHBuildings decided which three buildings will become part of the pilot program. Work will be done to generate a series of technological tools that will help to reduce spending and make the restoration, maintenance, and management of these monuments more cost-efficient as well as help contribute to improving energy efficiency.
So, more specifically, this new integrated management system of historic buildings, consisting of software and hardware based on Cloud Computing, will be implemented in the following buildings: in the Cathedral of Palencia, a building also included in Smart City Valladolid -Palencia, in the Basque and History of Bayonne Museum in France and in the church of Roriz, a small Portuguese town , near Oporto , included in the Atlantic Romanesque Intervention Plan . The technicians of the project explained that these buildings have been selected for their varied types and uses. It must not be forgotten that the SHBuildings plan lasts 26 months and has several phases. After defining the methodology and once the buildings have been selected, the next step is to identify specific needs and the strategy to be followed in the previously mentioned buildings.
In this respect, different presentations in each of the selected places are expected to be given in order to specify the interventions that will take place in each one of the selected buildings.
Transnational Cooperation Project
In conclusion, it is important to mention that the SHBuildings Project was launched at the end of 2012. Many different entities, businesses and technological centers in Spain, France, and Portugal such as the Santa María la Real Foundation, the Cartif Foundation, the Tecnalia Foundation, (AIDIMA) the Association of Investigation and Development in the Building Industry, the Centre de Ressources Technologiques NOBATEK or Nova University of Lisbon are active participants. Together they work in the development of this European project, which involves the necessary collaboration of other administrations and institutions such as the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Autonomous Government of Castile and Leon, Palencia County Council, City of Palencia, Mairie de Bayonne, the Spanish Association of Historical Heritage Restoration, the Association Européenne des Entreprises de Restauration du Patrimoine Architectural and the Bishopric of Palencia, among others. The project, coordinated by the Santa María la Real Foundation is part of the Territorial Cooperation Programme of South East Europe, Interreg IV SUDOE.
